What do we call Eco-Living ?
Today no real definitions exist of what eco living means. To us, it is about making an effort to live with care and respect for nature fauna and wild-life, and that includes humans too!
It is about living in a natural setting, trying not to impose our presence but instead developing harmony with the natural habitat, forest and wildlife.
It also involves working with the land: Its shape, the trees and the rocks will determine the orientation and the building of the tipi. As a result, each of the tipis will be unique and original.
The choice of building materials also respects nature by using a mixture of wood, concrete, roof gardens and vegetal roofs.
Tipi Hill gets its water directly from the mountain, and a simple filter will give you drinkable water in your home. Waste management is also included with a compost box and a common system for recycling waste.
Waste management
In Tipi Hill we’ll ask you as much as possible to separate the trashes into 3: recyclable, compostable and burnable.
Recyclable: Koh Phangan is now sending back to the mainland all containers that can be recycled: plastic and glass bottles, metal items and others. By doing this we’ll contribute to reduce trashes, and allow the people taking care of that to get some money out of it.
Compost box: to recycle organic products such as food, papers, dust, and others, we’ll develop a common compost box that will allow to reduce the amount of trashes and turn those trashes into beneficial material that will be used for our organic garden.
Burnable: all materials that will not fit in any of the above categories will be burnt.
Organic garden
 A specific space of around 3 rai (around 5000m2) will be turned into an organic garden to develop as much as possible home grown products. But tipi hill is a big garden in itself so we can emphasize on developing many small areas wherever possible where we can grow trees and vegetables.
Building materials
The choice of building materials is also a way to show respect to nature by using a mix of wood, concrete, stones, roof gardens and vegetal roofs.
